Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve



Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve is the pristine and unique eco-system situated in the Chandrapur district of the Maharashtra State of India. The Reserve contains some of the best of forest tracks and endowed with rich biodiversity. It is famous for its natural heritage. Tadoba-andhari Tiger Reserve is the second Tiger Reserve in the State. Tadoba-andhari Tiger reserve was created in 1995. The area of the Reserve is 625.40 sq. km. This includes Tadoba National Park, created in 1955 with an area of 116.55 sq. km. and andhari Wildlife Sanctuary created in 1986 with an area of 508.85 sq. km. The Reserve is constituted with 577.96 sq. km. Reserve Forest, 32.51 sq. km. Protected Forest and 14.93 sq. km. other areas.

Major Flora 
Teak, Ain, Bija, Dhauda, Haldu, Salai, Semal, Tendu and bamboo.

Major Fauna
Tiger, Leopard, Sloth Bear, Gaur or Indian Bison, Rusty Spotted Cat, Ratel, Indian mouse deer, Spotted deer, Sambar, Wild Boar, Four horned antelope, Wild dog, Flying Squirrel etc.

The main attraction of the Tadoba National Park is its jungle safari trips. 6-seater, 4-wheel drive, open top Gypsy vehicles with trained local guides are available to take visitors around the park to see wildlife. Regular bus service is available for the 30 km (19 mi) between Chimur and Tadoba. Nearest rail service is 40 kilometres (25 mi) at Chandrapur on the Delhi - Chennai main line.

Tadoba Tiger Reserve is open from 6am to 11am and 3pm to 6pm except on Tuesdays.

Fees
Entry Fee: Adult Rs. 10/, Child Rs. 5/, Car / Jeep 20/- Rs. per day / per vehicle, Heavy vehicle Rs.50/- per day / per vehicle, Still Camera 2/- Rs. per day, Two & Three Wheelers are not permitted in the park. Provision of vehicles: 25 seater minibus ply daily at 10 a.m. for tourists from Chandrapur to Tadoba is Rs. 43/- per tourist. 12 seater minibus is available at Tadoba for jungle safari at Rs. 10/- per hour per person. Provision of Guides: Trained local guides are available at Moharli gate, Navegaon gate and Zari gate at the rate of 60/- per guide. Guides are compulsory, with every vehicle entering in the sanctuary.

The Tadoba Tiger Reserve Forest Lodge is in the Chichghat valley adjacent to the core area of forested hills. The Lodge is open throughout the year. The nearest airport is Nagpur (140 km via Umrer, Bhisi and Chimur).
The nearest railway station is Chandrapur (on the Delhi-Madras main line) 45 kms away.
Nearest main bus stand is Chandrapur and Chimur (32 km).
